Museum

Since July 2004, the Town Museum has been located in new rooms in the Kamenice chateau. At present, a new standing exposition is being built under the name Museum for All Senses, the aim of which is to inform in a gripping manner about the history of the town and involve visitors actively in the tour. The authors intend to present the richness of the everyday life of the town in connection with the regional history on groups of objects and archive documents.
The visitors should perceive the exposition with all their senses, and the exhibition organization and the selection of the exhibits are based on this concept. In June 2006, first part of the exposition titled "The Eyesight" was opened. The visitors have the possibility to sit for a while in a replica of the narrow-gauge car compartment and watch films about the past and the present of the Kamenice chateau. On a magnetic map, they can test their knowledge of the local topography and familiarize themselves with the history of sports, theatre or fashion in Kamenice nad Lipou.
In the section being prepared for opening in 2010 visitors will learn the traditional trades in the Kamenice region, historical tools, instruments and products used and created here. For instance, they will have the possibility to touch the wooden toys produced in Kamenice in the last century. The exhibition will include kitchen utensils, gingerbread baking tins or home machines and coffee grinders.
The exposition focused on hearing will include a listening room where interested visitors will have the possibility to play back compositions of Vítězslav Novák, the Kamenice native, or recordings from the museum archive or Český rozhlas (Czech Radio). The exhibition will include, among other things, historical musical boxes, a barrel organ, and musical instruments.
The museum regularly organizes short exhibitions focused on local traditions or current artists. The summer Hračkobraní (Toy Harvest) organized in collaboration with the Arts & Crafts Museum in Prague is a traditional project of the museum.
